Did you see the great butterfly shots by Tracey on flickr. I can't see me putting family/personal photo's on the site but if I could take photo's like some of the people I'd be using this site.

The great thing about flickr is that you can post pictures and mark them as private (for you alone) or restricted (for just those contacts you've marked as family - or for family and friends). I use it all the time as a substitute for writing to my mother and sisters living in Sydney and the U.S., and keep up with their personal lives in the same way, receiving emails whenever they update their photo stream.
